An structure over the garage is, as it sounds, where you are extending above the top of an existing structure such as a garage, a kitchen, or dining room. This is not as easy as many people think.
Many houses have only single thick brickwork garages. This is not enough to build up and over as the new brick and block work above needs to be twin leaf.
There are two options, one is to install blockwork ‘piers’ in the garage and attach a steel beam over the top of these the second is to install a new foundation by digging down through the garage floor and building a new inner leaf.
With regard to planning permission, this will depend on distances to boundaries, between neighbours as well as aspect ratios and other factors, however at plan and design we will deal with all this for you. Get in touch with our team today to find out more.
